Seems like a great day to chase some waterfalls!!
We woke up Saturday morning feeling refreshed and ready for our last day in Quebec! I love it here and I’m so sad that it’s already over. I love how much history is everywhere, the beautiful architecture all around us and I also love being surrounded by French speaking people where I can practice my Français! It reminds me so much of Paris which was one of my FAVOURITE trips by far so I’m happy to be reminiscing while I walk through Old Quebec.
We decided to split up this morning to see different museums. Phoenix’s father’s great great grandfather (I think!) Louis Fréchette was born in Lévi in 1839. Since we are staying in Lévi where he was born, there is a museum where his birthplace was so Phoenix decided to go check it out. Louis Fréchette was a politician, poet and playwright. There was even a Canadian postage stamp with him on it! Pretty neat! So Phoenix went and visited the house and sent me these photos to add to the blog!
While she was still on the Lévi side, I took the ferry across to Québec. I was going to go to a museum about the history of the wars, but there was no English show while I was there. So I just wandered around Old Québec and enjoyed the views. I found a little café and wrote yesterday’s blog post while I had a coffee. I wish I could do this full time!!!
This is the huge hospital in old Quebec- where Phoenix’s dad was born! So we reunited and walked to out bus stop to take it to our destination of the day- Montmorency Falls! The bus was $3.25 each way and about a 30 minute ride across the city.
I had originally thought that the bus would bring us to the base of the falls, but instead we arrived at the TOP of the falls. You basically just make a big loop. There’s stairs on one side, the bridge across the falls then the cable car on the other side. We crossed the bridge over top of the waterfall which was really cool with a view of the St Lawrence below! Then we went DOWN the 487 stairs to the base of the waterfall. My knee was still bugging me from climbing up Mont Royal in Montreal so I opted to go down the stairs instead of up. Side note: you can also zip line across the waterfall too if you are adventurous enough!
It’s a long way down!!! The stairs look SO dreadful from above but they actually weren’t that bad while we were descending them. We took a few picture breaks and drank a ton of water- it was SO hot. The best part was getting soaked at the bottom of the stairs by the falls so at least we had that to look forward to in the heat!
After being refreshed from the water, we walked to the far side at the base of the waterfall to get a view from far away. Sorry for all of the same pictures, but it looks so beautiful at every angle!! We took the $12 cable car up to the top which completed our loop of the park.

And that’s a wrap! It was a nice long day trip and I highly recommend you make a trip here if you are visiting Quebec! Last time I was here, it was completely frozen and I walked right across the water to the base of the waterfall so this was incredible to see it in the summertime!

A huge difference! We took the bus back to Old Quebec, wandered around a little bit more and soaked up all the goodness! I already can’t wait to come back here. We called it an early night and took the ferry back to Lévi, had dinner and relaxed on the porch of our Airbnb.
The next morning, we woke up and had a stressful trip to our train station. We figured that the ferry would run every half hour as it did every other day….but it was only every hour since it was Sunday. OOPS. Our train left at 8:15 and we arrived at the ferry port just before 7:30. The next ferry didn’t leave until 8:00 which wouldn’t give us enough time to make it for our train. We decided our only choice was to take a taxi across the bridge to Quebec. When we were in the cab, I explained our issue to the driver and he dropped us off at a closer station which the train had to get to anyways- saving us time, money and stress. Perfect! We made it to the other station with plenty of time, checked with the front desk to confirm we could get on this train and it was no problem. I reached for my phone to check the train number and sure enough- I forgot it in the cab. Long story short, the driver ended up bringing it back to me and we got on our train but what a stressful morning!!!
We had a long 12 hour day of train rides which I was glad to be over and done with! The train is a much cheaper option than flying but you do have to sit for longer periods of time so just keep that in mind. The next morning I hitched a ride to Muskoka from Phoenix who was going that way anyways and I stayed with my friends Christina and Matt for a few days. It was so nice and relaxing to chill by the lake for a few days and spend time with their two Newfies, Beckham and Leo. Thursday, I caught another ride back to Toronto with Christina as she was going there anyway {how perfect!}, and I headed home. I’m throwing in some dog pictures because they’re just too cute and I miss them SO much already.
And that’s my trip! Thanks for following along this week! I hope you enjoyed seeing Montreal and Quebec with me! If you want to read the rest of the trip posts, go here and read those ones too!
